Friedhard Neumann was born in Frankfurt (Oder) in November 1989, the month the Berlin Wall fell, and grew up near the Polish border.
After completing a degree in social work in Berlin, he discovered his passion for photography, partly through a portrait seminar at the Ostkreuzschule. During a period of reorientation in Switzerland he decided to study Visual Journalism and Documentary Photography at Hochschule Hannover. Since then he has been exploring the medium of photography and the narrative forms of documentary and journalistic storytelling in depth.
Subjects: With a keen eye for social issues, his photographic projects bring people’s stories and particular circumstances closer to the viewer and address the pressing social questions of our time.
‘Every encounter and every engagement is a special opportunity to learn something – about ourselves and about the world. Here and now.’
