Prof. Michael Hauri, born in 1983, has been a professor at Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts since 2021. After studying communication design, he first worked as a freelance photographer and founded an agency for digital storytelling in Berlin. His multimedia reportages have won several awards – with the team he led, among others a World Press Photo Award and the Grimme Online Award. In 2023 and 2024 he sat on the Grimme Online Award jury himself. Since 2011 he has worked as a trainer for magazines, public broadcasters, NGOs and journalism schools, and he advises newsrooms and publishers on their digital strategy, including chrismon magazine, which he also supported in relaunching its website.

At Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts he initiated the ‘Educational Newsroom’, a teaching newsroom for digital journalism that produces our programme’s online magazine. He also sits on the advisory board of TruePicture, the most important grant for emerging photojournalists in the German-speaking world.
