Riccardo Prevete
Riccardo Prevete was born in Schwetzingen in 1994 and grew up in Mannheim. His sister Nicoletta, a radio and television journalist at the public broadcaster SWR, inspired him to tell stories.
He discovered his passion for photography while training as a car mechatronics technician. At the same time, he was active in the IG Metall union and in the employee representation at BMW. As the child of a ‘Gastarbeiter’ (guest worker) family, he was confronted early on with the issues that would later become central to his photography: social inequality and the representation of marginalised groups.
After his mechatronics training, he began an apprenticeship as a photographer at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in 2018, where he came to love videography and analogue photography. He has worked as a freelance photographer and videographer ever since, mainly in fashion and music. In 2021 Riccardo began studying photojournalism and documentary photography at Hochschule Hannover.
