Deliah El-Chehade (born 1999) is a German photographer with Tunisian and Lebanese roots. She grew up in a district of Bremen known for its cultural diversity, so different cultures and religions have always been part of her life – something she has experienced as a great enrichment. Migration, faith, Islam and identity are still recurring themes in her photo and video work today. She has been studying Visual Journalism & Documentary Photography at Hochschule Hannover since the winter semester of 2022 and wants to use her studies to help make BIPOC more visible in the media.

The daughter on the left holds a small blue school cone, the traditional gift for the first day of school; the daughter on the right holds a larger pink one.

Work

Gen Z and work: is the ‘lazy generation’ just a stereotype?

Lazy, spoilt, demanding? Gen Z is fighting for its reputation – and it’s their work ethic above all that’s being called into question. Is there anything to the stereotypes?

Pieces of fruit lie in a row against a white background. Stuck-on moustaches, hats and hair give them human features. The fruit is meant as a pun: in German, ‘faul’ means both ‘rotten’ and ‘lazy’ – just like Generation Z, supposedly.
