Elena Jaekel
Elena Jaekel works as a freelance journalist in Berlin and Hannover.
She was born in Göttingen in 1995 and first began studying ‘Visual Journalism and Documentary Photography’ to deepen her love of photography. Since then, however, she has largely swapped the camera for the keyboard and writes regularly for the weekly newspaper ‘der Freitag’, where she also gained her first editorial experience.
In her writing, she often looks at the structures behind systemic injustices in our society and their consequences for those hit hardest by them. She is also interested in the nuances of human relationships and in what drives people and what holds them back. Her approach is journalistic and partly artistic, experimenting with light, colour and words.
