Jan de Vries

Jan de Vries (born 2000) was born and grew up in Hannover. After leaving school, he did a voluntary social year and then worked in local politics. He is currently studying ‘Visual Journalism and Documentary Photography’ at Hochschule Hannover.

In his photographic work, Jan de Vries explores socially relevant questions. His focus is on social realities, the world of work and the tension between individual commitment and social structures. His projects move between documentary observation and personal reflection.

Alongside his photography, Jan de Vries works in politics as a photographer and videographer, and in social media management for the foreign policy spokesperson of the SPD parliamentary group in the Bundestag. He also runs the constituency office of the chair of the SPD group in the Lower Saxony state parliament.
