Nanna Heitmann shortlisted for the Pulitzer Prize. The photographer and HsH student is honored for her Russia coverage on behalf of the New York Times.
Nanna Heitmann is a finalist for this year ‘s Pulitzer Prize in the “Feature Photography“ category. The Pulitzer Prize committee wrote on its website that Nanna Heitmann’s impressive photos from Russia portray a generation living under the resurgent nationalism of Vladimir Putin. Nanna Heitmann has lived in Moscow for several years and documents current affairs there, often on behalf of the New York Times.
Nanna Heitmann has been studying at Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts since 2015. For her work she has already been honored with numerous awards in recent years, for example with a World Press Photo Award, the Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award and the STERN Prize. Nanna Heitmann was also admitted to the famous Magnum photo agency as a nominee in 2019 and has been a full member since 2023.
The Pulitzer Prize is probably one of the best-known and most prestigious journalism prizes in the world. It has been awarded annually since 1917 at Columbia University in New York in several categories and is named after the publisher and initiator of the prize, Joseph Pulitzer. The prize is awarded for journalistic work that has appeared in an American publication.
