Julius Schien
Julius Schien (born 1992) studies Visual Journalism and Documentary Photography in Hannover, where he also lives and works. In his photography he looks for answers to the question of what it means, in the 21st century, to confront Germany’s political legacy and the country’s far-right continuities. He aims to bring out long-forgotten stories of far-right violence that lie beneath the surface of everyday life, in landscape and city portraits that appear sober at first glance.
He works on large-format analogue film. Julius Schien was selected by the Triennial of Photography Hamburg for FUTURES, the European photography platform.
