Michael Hinz
Michael Hinz began teaching himself photography in 2013. Over the following years he assisted various photographers across Germany and worked as a freelance photojournalist for Wiesbaden City Hall as well as independently as a self-employed photographer. He began his studies at Hochschule Hannover in 2020.
During his studies he has focused mainly on independent social documentary subjects such as depression, street crime and foetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) in children. His photos for the report ‘Derek’ made it into the top 12 reports of the year in 2021 and were published both in the Süddeutsche Zeitung and in the anthology of the Hansel Mieth Prize.
Alongside his studies he works for clients such as FAZ, SZ, FPS-Law, Formaxx AG, Definet, Allgeier Experts and the Wiesbaden Ballet School.
