Qualification Objectives: The module Qualification VI provides a range of different technical and creative skills for the qualification process in the field of digital journalism and documentary photography work. For the field of digital publishing, the course ‘Online Magazine Code&Design’ teaches principles, methods, and procedures of user interface design. The seminar on project management provides practical know-how in project management.
The exercise ‘Immersive Journalism’ aims at acquiring basic knowledge of the theory, history, technology, and aesthetics of immersive media. It enables the conception of immersive applications in a documentary-journalistic context and the development of prototypes.
For ‘Curating and Exhibiting,’ students acquire the fundamentals of curating theory and practice.

Qualification Objectives: Students will have the competency to complete a complex collaborative project on a given or self-imposed topic. They are used to working in a large team and fitting into the structure of a dynamic group project. They have learned to make decisions and take responsibility under challenging conditions. Furthermore, they have sound knowledge of how to implement their own photographic project in the medium of exhibition. They have a solid knowledge of different historical and current forms of presentation in a space. Knowledge of the contexts of origin and modes of action of multi- and transmedia formats. They comprehend the different ways of linear and non-linear storytelling. They can conceptualize interactive digital stories at the intersection of text, infographics, photography, motion graphics, and newsgame. Furthermore, they can develop prototypes with usability criteria in mind.
Course Content: For the ‘Photo Project’ designs, the focus is on project implementation in a team. In cooperation with project partners, different forms of presentation and publication can be realized. A ‘Photo Project’ explicitly focuses on the development and implementation of a photographic project for the medium of exhibition and provides an overview of current fields of action in curating, different exhibition concepts and practices with a special focus on photographic exhibitions. The outline ‘Digital Storytelling’ conveys the claim, use, and quality of multimedia stories, it introduces different tools for the practical implementation of digital stories. In the course, digital media offerings are developed for specific target groups and different user experiences and interactions are designed. A concrete project is planned and implemented.
