Cale Garrido is a freelance curator, writer and photo editor. Born in Spain in 1990, she lives in Hamburg. She specialises in contemporary photography with a focus on socio-political and environmental issues, and works internationally on exhibitions and publications.
From 2016 to 2020 she was a photo editor at Greenpeace Media. As a curator she has realised exhibitions in museums, galleries and festivals, including ‘Die Anderen sind Wir. Bilder einer dissonanten Gesellschaft’ at the Brandenburg State Museum of Modern Art in Cottbus (2019), ‘Urgent Arts of Living’ at Kaunas Photography Gallery (2019) and ‘Joan Fontcuberta: Crisis of History’ at the 12th Biennale dell’immagine di Chiasso (2021).
She co-curated the Triennial of Photography Hamburg 2022 and the RAW Photo Triennale Worpswede 2023. Garrido has edited several photo books, most recently Women’s Workshop. Besides teaching at Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts, she teaches at the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie in Berlin.
