Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts welcomes young international journalists in the summer semester of 2025. The eight students will be introduced to the narrative forms of documentary photography by renowned photographer Mustafah Abdulaziz, among others. Curator and photo editor Cale Garrido will teach the participants the theory and practice of curating and exhibiting.

The eight students from six countries are participating in the ninth International Class. They come from Finland, Russia, Bulgaria, Spain, Japan and the USA. They are part of Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts’ partner universities, such as Texas State University, Hiroshima City University and the Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya. In addition to the international guests, selected students from Hanover also attend the one-semester program. The joint seminars promote the inspiring exchange of cultural and photographic perspectives, while the students share experiences and support each other.

Giovanni De Mojana shows that the International Class is far more than just an exchange and can leave a lasting impression. The former participant recently impressed the jury of the Sony World Photography Awards 2025 with his project “Khatoon.” In it, he portrays women in Pakistan and highlights their central role in social change. His images tell of the struggles and achievements of a new generation of women and offer a counter-perspective to common Western stereotypes.
