Erik Tuckow
Teaching areas: Information design, data visualisation and visual storytelling
Erik Tuckow studied photography at the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg, then switched to illustration at FH Hamburg. He graduated there – and along the way really learned graphic design at the screen-printing table of a poster collective. Engagement, movement and agitation were and remain the basis of his graphic work for political campaigns, whether local or global.
At some point the visual expression of outrage was no longer enough on its own. Information design followed, driven by the conviction that well-founded knowledge has the power to bring about lasting change and to create alternatives. He teaches infographics and visual storytelling at the Akademie für Publizistik – and is still a self-employed graphic designer in Hamburg.
