In March, Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts is once again welcoming thirteen young international journalists to Germany. They are allowed to study photography for six months in the international class at Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts. They come from Bangladesh, Belarus, Denmark, Italy, Japan, Russia, Spain and Ukraine. Some of them are already working as media professionals in their home countries. Others study at Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts’ numerous international partner universities, such as the Danish School of Media and Journalism, Hiroshima City University, the Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya and the Pathshala South Asian Media Institute in Bangladesh.

The participants in the international class attend their seminars together with selected students from Hanover. This creates a particularly instructive exchange for both sides, in which different working methods and perspectives are discussed in detail. Numerous experienced teachers have already taught in the international class in the past. Among them are the two Magnum members Bieke Depoorter and Stuart Franklin. Award-winning photographers Andrea Gjestvang, Mads Nissen and Dominic Nahr also gave courses in this context. The one-semester training program is a tried and tested model, recalls the Egyptian photojournalist Ahmed Abd El-GawadHannover was very important for me as my first step on the ladder, it opened my eyes. I found the access to try everything. And if you fail, you try again.” The international graduate Tatsiana Tkachova won following their participation in the TruePicture mentoring program in 2022..

The application deadline for the international class is always October 15 of each year. More information can be found here.
